Curly Pine Overbed Table (part 2)

I decided to use liquid glass on the surface after all. I wanted the table to allow wet things because why have an overbed table if you can’t spill liquid on it?

I built a nifty tent to keep the cat hair and dust from settling on the epoxy while it is curing. It worked well, for the most part. The wedge was to keep keep the surface level.

I did 3 epoxy pours. One to fill the gaps and grain in the wood and then two more to fill the area. After it cured, I was appreciating the mirrored hickory more.

I mounted the vertical board to the top and screwed in the hardware. I originally was going to put a walnut finish on the curly pine, but my tests looked a little off. I had some cedar finish from a LONG time ago and it ended up accenting the top.

As usual, I put three coats of polyurethane and I think it is working.

I look forward to giving this to Kristy’s father. I hope he likes it as much as I enjoyed making it!

Quiz: is Kristy looking at a Dogwood or a White Bud?
