Sometimes I get project fatigue and this is one of those project. However, I’m pretty happy with the progress. I masked the maple, which took an hour because I didn’t want any finish soaking into the maple.
Kristy and I woke up early in the morning and put on a coat of pre-stain and a then one coat of walnut finish. The pre-stain helps with soft woods so they don’t get blotchy when the finish goes on. I had the walnut stain from a project a while ago. It’s applies quickly, but boy does it stink.

When I got home from work later that day, I pulled the tape off and was relieved to see that the finish didn’t bleed into the maple. Whew.
I loaded them up in to the van. My brother was going home for Thanksgiving, so he hauled them back to my parents place.
I knew that the middle back leg on the long tables might be a problem, which I think I mention in an earlier post. Well, it is. There isn’t enough room between the wall a the radiator.
On the bright side, the small table looks pretty good.

I hope to get home within the next couple weeks and my father and I will figure out the back legs on the long tables. They all need a coat of polyurethane as well.
