My mom wanted an old wobbly end table redone. Although it wasn’t inteded to be a telphone table, she decided that’s what it is going to be after she saw it completed. I didn’t take an original picture, but I’ll try to add it later.
Here is the top of it anyway. It looks like there has been some paint versioning.


I pulled the top off and spray painted the base a black semi-gloss.

After ripping some cherry down to 1″ strips I glued and joined them with CLAMPS. Some quick hand planing and the top was pretty flat. Cherry is easy like that. I trim of the edges to spec and do a final sand.




I dowel joined the base to the new top and glued it to the top. Looks decent.



The original top had a back stop, so I wanted to add that as well.


For flare, I added some veneer triangles in the corners.


After some shellac and polyurethane, the new top looks shiny-shiny and ready for a phone book and an old rotory phone.
